Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) light traps are set once a week using dry ice as the primary attractant. Traps are set at the same location each week. These trap catches are identified to each species. The numbers of each species are entered into an Excel spreadsheet which also contains graphs to depict species distribution over time.
There are six trap locations in Beaufort County that are intended to represent the variety of habitats found throughout our area. These general locations are shown on the following map:
